Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups cherry pie filling (canned or homemade)
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Step 1 – Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2 – Prepare the Base

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract. Gradually fold in dry ingredients until just combined.

Step 3 – Assemble

Press about two-thirds of the dough evenly into the prepared pan to form the base layer. Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the dough. Crumble the remaining dough over the top for a crumbly finish.

Step 4 – Bake

Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cherry filling is bubbling at the edges. Let cool completely before cutting into bars. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
